The rooms is a small for its price but the ambiance is great. I personally love the bathroom, good water pressure and space. Windows can get a god use of curtains. Check in staff was not friendly and was giving a lot of attitude especially when we requested for a hair dryer. Major point is that the hotel is near subway stations but not much restaurants nearby.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience communicating with The Architect Hotel. I spent several weeks attempting to resolve a simple reservation date modification due to a high-risk pregnancy that required me to change my travel plans. I was not requesting a cancellation or refund. I simply wanted to move my reservation to different dates so that I could still use the booking for my honeymoon. Booking.com informed me that they required a response or approval from the hotel in order to proceed with the modification. Despite numerous emails, phone calls, and repeated outreach from both myself and Booking.com, the hotel was consistently difficult to reach. I repeatedly received automated responses directing me back to Booking.com, even after explaining that Booking.com had already contacted the property multiple times and was waiting for a response. Most concerning, after my fiancé was finally able to speak with the hotel directly, we were assured that the hotel would respond to Booking.com’s email regarding the requested modification. However, Booking.com later confirmed that no response was ever received from the property, and the issue remained unresolved. The most disappointing part of this experience was not that the hotel may have been unable or unwilling to accommodate the date change—it was the lack of communication, follow-through, and willingness to provide a clear answer after weeks of repeated attempts. Guests should be able to expect timely and reliable communication regarding active reservations. I hope The Architect Hotel improves its customer service, responsiveness, and communication practices so that future guests do not have a similar experience.

This hotel was in a great place, basically walkable to the city center itself or also to the metro if needed. The staff was also excellent. Some major gripes though: - The ice machine being only in the basement, and missing, the entire time was frustrating. - The room windows were nailed shut so no ventilation. The view also was basically a brick wall mere feet away. I would still have liked fresh air. - The bathroom has two switches but one is useless. They should have the second switch set up to the fan because the current setup is that as soon as you turn on the light, the bathroom fan comes on too. Why do I hate the bathroom fan? Because it is incredibly loud (trust me, you'll see I'm not exaggerating) and essentially if you want to use the bathroom at night you'll wake up your partner (and maybe the floor!) with the pleasant sound of basically a helicopter landing on your roof. The staff was completely aware making me wonder why no use has been made of the second light switch in the bathroom all these years. If you stay here, I recommend plugging in the desk lamp in the bathroom so that you can discretely use the bathroom when there's no natural light.

The hotel is very poor overall. 1. The toilet often clogs and barely functions. 2. The heater is not reliable, requiring manual on/off adjustments. During winter, I had to wake up multiple times at night because there's no working thermostat. 3. The internet is practically non-existent. Even basic apps like email, WhatsApp, or Facebook were difficult to use. Using any work applications like Teams or Zoom was impossible. 4. The room was never cleaned during my five-day stay. 5. There are no amenities, such as vending machines or other services. The only positive aspect is the location. I would strongly advise against staying here.

Rooms are dated. Rooms are small. Rooms are clean. Location is perfection. They let us check in 2 hours early on a busy weekend. This is a no frills hotel. Rooms are very small. Everything is old and dated. But....it has a certain charm to it. Beautiful old building in a great location basically 3 or 4 blocks from the White House under 160. Its a GREAT budget hotel. Do not expect any frills or extras. Bed was fine, shower was fine. No bed bugs like it said in other reviews. If you just want a safe and clean place to sleep and shower this is a great option.
