Phenomenal. The serenity I felt here. The music, the light, the artwork, the attention to detail on the ceilings. It you like Lapis, you’ll love it here too. I learned today that Aracosia was the ancient Persian empire’s name for present day Afghanistan. True to form, this food was stellar, authentic, rich. This was all quite serendipitous. I actually was just in the area to pick something up and found this gem and stayed.

I loved everything about this place! Small and personal atmosphere that's elegant and classy, great service, and most importantly, excellent quality food. Super robust and unique flavors in everything. If you're looking for a good quality and something different from typical American quisine, this place will knock it out of the park for you

The food was excellent and seemed to be very authentic Afghan cuisine. Our waiter was also exceptionally kind, and I enjoyed talking with the host as well. I highly recommend this restaurant, and definitely intend to revisit next time I'm in DC.

People will tell you that Lapis is the best Afghan in DC…this is a lie. Bistro Aracosia is incredible. It is so intimate and in such a quiet part of DC. Staff are attentive and above all the food is unreal. The most tender lamb I’ve ever had.

Had a nice lunch there with a business partner. It was my second visit to Aracosia in two months, and I liked both experiences. Among food offerings, our favorites were traditional lamb dishes; and a sample of local special offerings provided as an appetizer looked irresistible. Pinot Noir from Oregon (Coeur de Terre) was also quite good. The place is becoming increasingly popular. There has been quite a crowd for a regular weekday in the quiet residential corner of the city. The service was a bit slow. Reservations are recommended, especially if you want to sit outside (very limited seating)/

EASILY some of the best Afghani food — and honestly, some of the best food, period — in all of DC, and it’s not even close! I stopped by Bistro Aracosia for the first time today after my chiropractor recommended it, it was near my appointment, and wow… I’m blown away. The chicken wrap was to die for! Juicy, tender, and perfectly charbroiled with a subtle, smoky flavor. The spread of condiments was next-level: spicy, herby, creamy yogurt, tangy chutney, and sweet mango, each one fresh and bursting with flavor. Add in the side of house bread and savory chickpeas, and you’ve got a meal that’s nothing short of perfection. The service matched the food, warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Can’t wait to come back. This place is an absolute gem!

This is a fantastic spot if you are looking for a meal that is both flavorful and unique. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate, making it a great choice for a nice dinner where you can actually hear your conversation. I tried several different dishes and each one was seasoned beautifully with really rich, aromatic spices that you don't find everywhere. The staff was incredibly welcoming and took the time to explain the menu and offer recommendations, which added a nice personal touch to the service. Everything felt very authentic and high-quality, from the fresh bread to the perfectly cooked mains. It is a wonderful neighborhood find that offers a really high-end dining experience in a comfortable setting.
