It was my wife's 40th Birthday and we had made a reservation days in advance. There was 9 of us. Our reservation was pretty early as far as dinner goes 5:15. We showed up a little before and was taken to our "table" It was 4 two tops arranged as two separate tables. Like they could fit a whole other table in the space where we were separated in the middle. We asked if we could at least push the tables together as it felt like we were all strangers at our own party sitting separated the way we were but we were denied. Ok cool, we picked this place cause we had been there 1 time before and my wife like their filet, unfortunately they must have had a different chef back there this time around, the amount of seasoning was immense. It was like way WAY TOO MUCH. Towards the end of our meal I went to the restroom, on my way there I noticed that the place only had a few people eating and saw PLENTY of open tables that would have accommodated us perfectly so that we weren't all sitting at different tables. When we called to make the reservation we stated it was for a birthday, we didn't expect anything for free but they didn't let us know that they give out a dessert either. We are not allergic but out of nowhere they bring out this pretty good chocolate mousse cake with a sparkler on it and nobody was able to take any pictures because there was no warning. It was a nice gesture but the execution was disappointing. This was a big deal 40th Birthday and we picked Bitteroot because we wanted it to be special but instead got a very underwhelming experience.

Food was so incredible the first time and server was eh. The service was not what we expected for the food and ambiance. I was a server year ago and my standard is high, but even for my husband she could been a sub-par server at shoneys - at best. But given the food choices in Destin of this caliber, I thought I’d try it again. So glad I did! Mason waited on us tonight and he was absolutely incredible! I never had to ask for a thing, my dishes were taken away as soon as we were done eating, my water glass was never empty, and I’m not typically picky, but I really didn’t like my drink from the bar, so what did Mason do? No questions asked, he brought me another kind. I think he should be the trainer of all the other servers, maybe even the manager, because he was five star just like the food! Will definitely be back every time we come to Destin because of Mason and the food. Great things are ahead for that young man!

This is it. Best food in Destin. By far. Chicken and rice. Just chicken and rice... chicken and rice... and somehow one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had. The rice rides the edge of being too salty, but somehow works perfectly with the chicken. The chicken itself was incredibly tender, moist, and beautiful. You could cut it with a fork from any angle. The Wagyu burger was juicy and delicious. Bone marrow and escargot were another surprise hit. We went to Marina Cafe, Harbor Docks, Louisiana Lagniappe, Domo Izakaya, and Edge... and the best food was sitting around the corner the whole time. Compliments to the chef and staff. Great service too. This is what we eat in NYC: flavor, punch, elevated ingredients, and food that actually leaves an impression.

Bitterroot in Destin is an absolute must. The bone marrow alone is worth the trip — rich, perfectly executed, unforgettable. Foie gras was luxurious, Korean smashed potatoes were a revelation, and every bread on the table was made in-house. The wine and cocktail lists are curated by someone who actually knows what they’re doing. This kitchen is the real deal. Go.

I can't rate the food honestly beyond reading the menu, and seeing their prices. Looks and reads like the real deal, though. Saw some impressive plates emerge. We slid by after dinner for some craft cocktails. Wish we hadn't had that dinner. Staff were friendly enough when they weren't working to feed the whole house. Highly skilled and knowledgeable. Excellent flavor profiles, and a decent deep barback. Not cheap. But... cheap is more mixed drink 'Rum & Coke' vs. ab impressive cocktail that finishes for 5 minites and you can sip for well over a half hour.
