Happy hour experience at Blanco Cocina + Cantina is basically a power move. From 4–6 pm, this spot delivers the perfect blend of elevated flavor and laid-back fun. We grabbed seats at the indoor/outdoor bar (arguably the best seat in the house), where the bartenders struck that ideal balance—polished, personable, and genuinely fun. You can tell they enjoy what they do, and it sets the tone immediately. The cocktails? Crisp, vibrant, and dangerously easy to keep ordering. The food? Let’s just say “happy hour portions” doesn’t apply here. Everything was generous, flavorful, and beautifully put together—we fully intended to grab dinner after… and then simply didn’t need to. Great energy, great value, and just the right amount of indulgence. If you’re in downtown Phoenix and want a happy hour that feels a little extra (in the best way), this is your spot.

I had high expectations for this restaurant, but soon I came back to reality. There were a number of issues with this visit which were- 1. The Chips and Salsa chip were not hot and as fresh a nachos. 2. The hot sauce was too sweet and not hot. 3. My orders came up before my drinks and food was cold by the time she arrived with drinks. 4. The Shrimp Fajitas were okay but not enough for the 3 tortillas that came with them. They were also a little tough and cold due to issue 3. 5. Tortillas were cold and did not taste homemade. 6. Large security failure. A homeless woman came in and blocked the walk to my table abd gentleman next to me. She was served but did not pay. I guess if this was outside would be great but inside created bad atmosphere. Thus, the 1 rating. 7. The gentleman next to me, that were locals got half off their check because of the homeless person and when I asked for something off was told I was not next to her but she was only 5 feet away causing me great anxiety since saw another homeless person ransack the Hyatt Regency when I arrived the day before. Finally, this restaurant would probably be 1 star except for the fact that food was okay. The Waitress discrimination on checkout and security issues makes this a no go place for me in the future. Compared to the many other Mexican restaurants I have reviewed this is one of the worst. I think I will stick to San Antonio for Mexican restaurants reviews.

Lively Friday night atmosphere. Good aqua frescas, tasty chips and mild salsa, good guacamole. I loved the rice and charro beans. My son devoured his tinga enchiladas...must have been good.

Popped in here with a few friends in a weekday and sat at the bar. Loved the atmosphere and it's openness to the outside patio. The salsa was really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the chips. I like mine thinner. 😋 The sweet potato tacos were absolutely INSANELY delicious!!! I could eat those every single day. A must try and they let you mix and match tacos so you can try more than one. 😉 For sides it's not just the typical rice and beans. Oh no. I got corn which was tasty and the rice. HOLY what. It's a butter rice with peppers. Talk about take me back to my childhood. It's sooooo good!!! I cleaned my entire plate good. 🍽 Don't even get me started with the drinks. The bartenders are making magic happen. The drinks were excellent!!! This place must be a whole different kind of vibe at night. A must try and next time I'm in town I'll definitely be back!
