Has the typical French comfort food. Delicious French onion soup and the mussels. The escargoes are of a small size and do not come with bread to dip the sauce. The truffle fries and the brussels sprouts are both good, though not something to come back for. Next time we probably would order a pot of mussels and order either a pasta or bread to go with the sauce. The $5 apricot chardonnay is a steal for a dessert. Its location near SF performing arts make it a great place for an early dinner for those catching a performance. It may need a wait during the busy dinner time.

Authentic French bistro in Hayes Valley. After 2 recent visits I am impressed by the food and service at this homestyle establishment. Both times Willy excelled at making us feel welcome with great recommendations and a friendly smile. Deniz another service professional. I grew up in southern France and at age 63 have traveled extensively so believe this review. Chez Maman rocked the mussels in butter, white wine and garlic (plenty of it just like in Marseille) sauce served in hot metal cauldron to keep them piping warm. Excellent fries served in paper cone to maintain heat and a side of mayo. French onion soup was delicious. Generous portions of veal in mushroom sauce with vegetables perfectly cooked al dente. Excellent salad Nicoise with delicious pan fried salmon and a side of superb concentrated calamatta olive purée. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portions considering its central location. If you want pretentious fare go somewhere else at your peril and cost. If you want real homestyle food like regular French citizens eat at their local bistro this is your maison. PS both times I was too full to sample desserts so will update this review when able.

The weather was beautiful, so we sat out on the patio. Perfect atmosphere. Every dish was delicious. The only miss for me was the baguette and butter. The ratio felt off and the bread itself was a bit plain. I had the half roasted chicken, which was cooked perfectly. The French onion soup ? 10/10. No notes. I also tried a bit of the sole, which was excellent. The salted caramel almond gelato also great. Last but not least, our server Garen went above and beyond. Super attentive and seems genuinely cool. If I had a restaurant, I’d hire him on the spot!!

Chez Maman West is one of the best French cuisine we have had in San Francisco! We tried out the burger that comes with fries and the moules marinieres. The burger is special because it is on ciabatta bread. It was really good and tasty. in addition the moules marinieres are awesome!!!! The staff are nice, and the service was good. The ambiance is a bit loud. There is inside seating and outside seating. It is small, and so during peak hours there might not be any space left. They have a variety of options on their menu, like crepes, burgers, or seafood...

Super cute place in hayes, they have both indoor and outdoor seating. one of my favorite french restaurants in the city but always full of people. Escargot and baguettes are a must, french onion soup is decent. I’ll definitely come back for other menu items to try. Would recommend!
