Common Thread in Savannah, GA does NOT disappoint! We have been eyeing this place, and finally made a reservation and gave it a try. Wow. Local, fresh, & innovative- each dish was like an event unto itself. There were so many choices that we wanted; we ended up getting lots of dishes and sharing them all. The presentation of each dish as it was described by the wait staff, was like a present just waiting to be torn into. I hope I’m not taunting you with things you won’t get to try- the menu is source availability driven, so I think it changes often. We started with Ceviche made with tile fish, citrus and blueberries! It was fresh and light, a perfect new rendition of a classic dish. Steak Tartar with capers and an egg yolk jam served with malt vinegar potato chips that were so light and thin they just melted in your mouth. Melon salad- possibly my favorite thing among all these amazing dishes. Perfect bites of watermelon, peaches, cantaloupe with ham (maybe Serrano ham?) and served on a bed of whipped feta and paper thin jalapeños with arugula. Each mouthful was just an explosion of tastes. Our next course, we had the squash blossoms which were delicate and served with a goat cheese foam. And the Videlia onion salad, which had a strong vinegar flavor that was balanced by a white romesco sauce. It was a very inventive dish. Our main course consisted of the Piri Piri chicken, served with grilled leeks over grits and a coquette. All with an herbed sauce that enhanced all that was on the plate. The plate was so big that the portion looked small- but it wasn’t. And the eggplant served with sour honey and a ramp aioli- never heard of either of these accompaniments, but they were outstanding. We ended with a coconut sorbet with what could only be described as raspberry snow, blackberries and a homemade strawberry gummy that was stunningly delicious. Common Thread is definitely a place we will return to. Fabulous place for a special dinner, in a cozy house with understatedly beautiful decor.

The food was exceptional and the service equally wonderful. Chris, our server, was so knowledgeable and charming - as were the rest of the staff who dropped off plates of food. The tasting menu is delicious and thoughtful and presented in such a great way. Would highly recommend and will absolutely go back the next time I’m in Savannah. Also, don’t skip out on trying both types of oysters!

We had an absolutely fantastic tasting menu at Common Thread. We came from Minneapolis which is quite the food city and felt this was a super competitive meal as far as what we could get at home. The wine pairing was extremely well done as well, with a lot of thought put into the pairings. We left feeling like we received an excellent value for the price, and a delicious and memorable meal!

Extraordinary! Savannah has a fabulous restaurant scene and we have sampled many amazing meals while visiting our daughter in the city while she is at SCAD. We had yet to visit Common Thread. (We love its sister restaurants that we have tried). Finally we had a chance to dine here and it was incredible! We did à la carte service meaning we selected from the menu with an array of shared plates. Sweet potatoes, beets & berries, roasted carrots, Carolina Gold rice and the NY strip were all incredible. Our star of the show was the mushroom cannelloni. The mushroom forward sauce and filling were savory and unctuous with the roasted bits of squash added the perfect pop of sweetness. Such a surprising and elevated dish really exemplifying the chef’s deft hand. The cocktails (don’t shy away from the more herbaceous ones. They are fabulous!) and desserts rounded out a wonderful meal. Exceptional service from Dust & Nathan completed a truly memorable night of dining in what is also one of Savannah’s most beautiful restaurants.

We travel often for both work and pleasure, so we dine out frequently and experience many cuisines. This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had—exceptional without any unnecessary pomp or pretense. From the first bite, it was clear the culinary team is both talented and thoughtful, creating perfectly balanced flavors. Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The service was spot-on: attentive when needed, never overbearing, and it enhanced the meal without making the experience about the server. The Carolina Gold Rice is a must try. Oysters are fresh and the Pork Belly entree was beyond amazing. If you enjoy vintage crafted cocktails, they mix a perfect Pimm's Cup. We’ve already highly recommended Common Thread and can’t wait to dine here again on our next visit to Savannah. We may also make a trip back to Savannah just to dine at Common Thread again. Its that good!
