Can only speak about brunch, but really enjoyed our experience at Gage and Tollner. The restaurant is stunning, like an old piece of NYC saved from the past. Service is old school polite, quick, and efficient. They have a great cocktail program here and I enjoyed my first Sherry Cobbler, an old school concoction you don’t see on many menus. The brunch offerings were really good, we enjoyed the wedge, Dutch baby and a fantastic burger. Can’t wait to go back for dinner!

Dinner at Gage & Tollner was an outstanding experience. We were glad to have a reservation—there was a line when we arrived. The dining room felt intimate and transportive, with a classic, old-world charm, and the staff were attentive throughout. We started with oysters (a mix of East Coast varieties), shrimp cocktail, and crab soup—everything fresh and well-executed. The Kaluga caviar with blinis was a highlight: smooth, buttery, and paired perfectly with sparkling cava. For mains, the pork rib chop was cooked beautifully (though the sauce wasn’t our favorite), and the Atlantic hake was light, flaky, and nicely presented over cabbage. Sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were rich and satisfying. We finished with a baked Alaska that was easily enough for three. Overall, a fantastic meal—refined, memorable, and definitely worth returning for (next time, the steak).

This was my first time dining at Gage & Tollner and it was awesome. The servers were very courteous and made me and guests feel very welcome. The occasion was my mom's 75th birthday and she really enjoyed her meal and the service. My people and I loved the food and the presentation. Each meal looked like a work of art and tasted even better. The bone in pork chop, sautéed seasonal mushrooms and crab cake were to die for. I can honestly say that I'm so looking forward to going back to Gage & Tollner very soon.

I took my girlfriend to Gage & Tollner for her birthday. The service overall was fantastic, your water glass is constantly being filled up and you never feel forgotten (especially for how busy the place was on a Thursday night). We had a reservation and were seated immediately, and our drink orders were taken after our water preference. To start we had the Caesar salad and the hot rolls and both were delicious, our server even brought extra butter when we used all of ours. The croutons in the Caesar salad were delicious. For dinner we had the T-Bone for 2 which can be ordered pre-sliced. It was a very good cut of meat with a little too much fat but still amazing. For dessert we had the Brooklyn Blackout Cake which was also very good and not too rich for a completely chocolate cake. Finally, since I indicated on OpenTable that we had a birthday in our party there was a Happy Birthday card waiting at our table when we sat down and a candle in our cake complete with Happy Birthday written on the plate! (All a surprise). Overall, a great spot for steak dinner and especially a special occasion!

We did the New Year’s Eve prix fixe and left feeling underwhelmed, especially for the price (over $200 per person with taxes and tip). While there were aspects of the meal I enjoyed, the quality of ingredients, preparation, and portion sizes didn’t feel like a good value. This was a meal I expected to blow me away. Both my husband and I ordered the steak and lobster Newburg, and unfortunately his steak was severely undercooked. He didn’t mention it until the end of the meal, so it wasn’t corrected, but at this price point that shouldn’t happen. That said, the service was very excellent. I needed to move tables due to a very strong cologne at a neighboring table, and the servers and manager were incredibly kind and accommodating. Service was the highlight of the evening ….I just didn’t enjoy the food enough to justify the cost.
