When you walk in, let alone taste the amazing food, you are immediately transported into a home atmosphere. The staff is amazing and kind and very helpful. The nostalgia of the place runs through the entire experience while you visit. I picked up a large order for my staff for lunch and everything was fresh, ready, and hot…We will definitely be coming here again and again and again.

Small shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Easy to order, good prices for the amount of food, and delicious! Rice is fluffy, beans are light, meat is flavored really nicely! Not salty, oily, and doesn't make you feel gross. Everyone was beyond friendly, helpful, and always moving. From talking to customers, cleaning, or serving, this team stays busy. Tacos and tamales were absolutely perfect! Extra salsa costs more, but it's worth it. It tastes so good!

Updating my review from 9 years ago when I ate here the first time. At that time I originally gave a good review with 5 stars but I just went in May 2025 and I was sooo disappointed. The food was not fresh. I ordered carnitas tacos and a chicken tamale. The carnita tacos were dry and the tamale had no chicken it was just masa. So disappointing.

Our early ‘CINCO de MAYO’ celebration. We did a catered dinner using half trays hence did not dine in the restaurant. The food is beyond delicious. My family has been dining at ‘La Luz Del Dia’ since 1961.

Dona Victoria made today's experience there, as if we've known each other, forever! I took my brother for a Dodgers game. We ordered a carnitas tortas and, I ordered the #3. The tamales rajas con queso... OMGEEEE! I've been there in the past. One of the greats, that is deceased, took me there once. His name was Gino. She walked us to our table. We sat on the patio. Because of my brother heard that Gino took me here before, he told me.. "let's go there! " The food was vintages old school. We enjoyed a beer. Along, came Dona Victoria to check on us. She had this beautiful maroon dress, w an apron. We spoke for about 30 minutes. She had been there for about 40 years plus. She expressed the passing of multiple people close to her. It was prompted by Mr Gino, and my explaining why we went to go eat there, enroute to a Dodgers game. It was there vs Phililps. When go eat somewhere. The food can bE be okay, but when one is felt as MI Casa, ES SU CASA....., It adds a personal touch. The food was vintage, old school. The element of Familia was touching. We sat on the patio. The soul of Olvera Street.... SHINED!!!! I add this detail, to pay homage of how food brings us together. Originally, Mr Gino took me,Papa John, Mitch, and Wayno! Hermana April............. A shout out to you! I honor you!

Handmade tortillas, great prices. Not a full service restaurant, order at the counter and find a table.
