I love La mar every single year I have been in the Bay Area I celebrate special occasions in the restaurant. Unfortunately, last week I went to eat. I ordered the nigiri tasting, causa and a seasonal ceviche. I got incredibly sick after a few hours and my friend as well. I am incredibly sad about it and debating on writing a review but I think is important.

This is my first time trying Peruvian food, I went for dinner with a friend and we got the ceviche tasting and octopus. I enjoyed each bite of the ceviche, it was so flavorful and tasted so good. Service and Ambience are really nice, they do have outdoor seating with heaters.

Top notch venue with patio sitting and a million dollar bay view. The interior design of the restaurant is most impressive and modern. We arrived early and were enjoyed the bar area to see the live telecast of world cup soccer. Service was excellent and friendly. The Peruvian menu was expertly crafted and executed. Ingredients was fresh and well seasoned. Highly recommended.

We are vegetarian and had many options to choose from. We especially loved the veggie ceviche and the fresh corn empanadas. For our mains we tried the Veggie Saltado, it was delicious ! It had a nice Asian twist to it. I love that they offer complimentary fresh potato chips with a yummy sauce, complimenting our drinks nicely!👌🏽 Views on the patio were great. Staff was attentive too. This was my second time here and I’ll definitely be coming back. 🙌🏽

We were three people and ordered the Kampachi Experience Menu. The food was exquisite, with every dish prepared from the fish presented to us at the beginning of the meal. The ceviche, sashimi, stir-fried fish, and fried rice were absolutely top-notch. The service was excellent and perfectly on point. It is definitely very expensive, around $250 per person, but worth every penny for the quality and overall experience. Highly recommended.

I had an outstanding dining experience at La Mar Cebichería Peruana, located right on the beautiful Embarcadero waterfront. From start to finish, everything about this restaurant exceeded expectations. We began with a lychee cocktail, which was absolutely sensational—refreshing, well-balanced, and incredibly flavorful. It set the tone perfectly for what was to come. As a starter, we ordered a mushroom empanada, which was delicious and packed with flavor, a great introduction to the meal. For the main course, we chose the crab rice, and it was simply exceptional. Not only was it incredibly tasty, rich, and well-seasoned, but the portion size was surprisingly generous. I would confidently say it can easily serve four people. We ordered it for two without realizing this and still had plenty left—even though we ate quite a lot. It was so satisfying that we didn’t even have room to try dessert. The overall experience was top-tier. The service was excellent—attentive, professional, and very welcoming throughout the meal. The ambiance, combined with the quality of the food and drinks, makes it clear why this place is considered one of the best restaurants in the city. I highly recommend visiting La Mar if you’re in San Francisco. It’s absolutely worth it.

The fish of the day is a must try - such a great experience. Feel the passion and expertise of the chef from the dishes we had. The 5-lb Kampachi fish was cooked six ways and included a big Asian / Chinese style fish dish. Amazing! Can’t beat the view - close to the water and the big boats. Very close to the parking lot. Drinks menu is not as strong - limited options for white. Service is only ok - not the staff’s fault, they are too busy.

We had a great visit to La Mar. The space is beautiful and very spacious, and we were seated right by the window inside the tent with a nice view of the water. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We ordered the Clásico ceviche, which came with catch of the day in a classic leche de tigre with choclo, habanero, and sweet potatoes. It was fresh, bright, and flavorful. We also had a tasting of four empanadas (two chicken, one mushroom, one beef), and it was nice that we could mix and match. For mains, the Lomo Saltado was solid, but the Tacu Tacu tasted bland and was just ok. The Pescado Enchichado leaned sweet but was cooked better than expected. The Black Cod Criollo was dry and a bit bland compared to everything else we had. We also tried the guava juice. It was a bit sour. Overall, good food, great service, and a relaxing waterfront ambiance. I would come back but would try different mains next time.
