Went here for my birthday dinner, there were no black people working there, strange for a black owned establishment. The chicken was good but the greens were horrible! My kids are the pulled pork n mac n cheese they said it was okay but they have had better… I was hoping for an amazing experience and great good but I got way less….

I was looking for a good soul food restaurant in San Francisco, but this wasn’t it. Their restaurant is super cute, however the food was lack luster. The fried chicken was fried well, but lacked seasoning and flavor. The mac and cheese had breadcrumbs on top and that should have been a sign. My boyfriend had shrimp and grits and that was very disappointing. The grits had no flavor and they just put canned tomatoes on top instead of making a sauce or a rue. It wasn’t busy in the restaurant, however the service was very slow. We ordered our food using Toast, but the waiter came over to tell us that he had a big party on the other side and we may not see him for awhile. I watched my overly sweetened sweet tea sit on the counter for awhile and just when I was about to go pick it up, another waiter brought it over. Nobody really came over to check on us. I had to ask several times for a to-go box and a bag. I won’t be returning.

The atmosphere and staff are nice but this restaurant is a disgrace to “soul food”. It’s so terribly bland and finding out it’s not even black owned isn’t surprising because of the food. If you want better chicken and waffles go to cracked and battered or Brenda’s soul food.

I recently visited The Little Skillet in San Francisco with my mom and sweetheart, and it was an exceptional experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The food was nothing short of fantastic—crispy fried chicken, perfectly seasoned grits, melt-in-your-mouth cornbread, and indulgent chicken and waffles that hit every note. My sweetheart’s shrimp and grits and my mom’s catfish were equally delicious, showcasing the restaurant’s mastery of Southern comfort food. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. Whether you’re with family or on a date, The Little Skillet is the perfect spot for soul-satisfying meals and an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!

Happen to come across this joint on my way to the Giants game. If you're looking for a soul food with character, great music, and downright delicious eats, Little Skillet is a must-visit. Tucked away near Oracle Park, this hidden gem serves up Southern classics that hit all the right notes. The biscuits? Buttery and flakey perfection served with honey butter. The blackened shrimp with grits was flavorful, and balanced. The fried shrimp with mashed potatoes? A combo that's both indulgent and deeply satisfying. And the fried chicken? Crispy, juicy, and everything you'd hope for from a true Southern kitchen. Little Skillet delivers big on taste, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this hole-in-the-wall is worth seeking out. Highly recommend!
