Long overdue to review Lore, we’ve been for dinner and brunch a few times and both are great. The menu is unique, fun, and delicious. I don’t think anything here is bad but there are some real standouts. I think the fermented dosa is a must. The fish chips and The Full Story 2.0 are both outstanding. I love the flavor of the burger, just wish it held together throughout, it ends up in pieces every time. The cocktail program is fun and worth exploring! The only negatives are that service can be a little hit or miss depending on how busy they are and when packed, the dining room can be incredibly loud (just an fyi if you’re looking to have a meal and quite conversation). Overall, Lore is a wonderful spot worthy of the praise it receives.

Hi, to all the people seeing the really high rating and deciding to go here… take a step back and think about this. Place is small and seating is so tight you have to push your table out completely from the eating location to go to the bathroom or leave. Next the noise level here is jarring. As far as waiting service, it’s sanitized and void of any humanity (the bald guy is stiff, dry, and distant making it feel poke an inconvenience to interact with people). As far as the prices go most entrees are 40, but the quality of ingredients and serving size do not make up for the price, period. The food is average and I mean that in the best way if you want a great meal and are or aren’t worried about price, still skip this place. The ingredients and dishes here taste normal- orally nothing about this place feels poke a 4.8 rating as of this writing. What we ordered: - squash - duck confit - butterless Buttered chicken - semolina dessert The squash was good and had good texture and flavor, but could use a few substantial pieces as its extremely minuscule portions. The buttered chicken was just mid all around. The chicken was cooked slightly above average- this is a common theme for the dishes here. The dish adornments are just okay. As far as my experience, I’ve had Indian food in India north and south along with having friends who’ve cooked southerner dishes. The duck itself was cooked really well, but the sauce tasted like someone accidentally placed the duck in a dessert bowl- who wants their sauce that sweet? The dessert… skip don’t even attempt to order this. This isn’t made for authentic or American pallets, it’s just confused as to where it wants to be.

Lore was one of the best meals in some time. We got a dosa the size of a yoga mat with three toppings and great consistency, classic butter chicken built for comfort, and the lamb shahi korma was regal, the stuff of legends, fit for the gods. Affordable by NYC standards, absurdly good by any standard, I’m still physically (and heart is) full Well done, cool space, all the things that are good!

We loved our experience at Lore. The menu was inventive and the food flavorful. The wine list was well thought out - delicious options at approachable prices. Our server was exceptionally hospitable and we simply loved the vibes.

Had a wonderful brunch at Lore today. We went at tail end of the brunch time, which was great because it wasn't overly crowded (could have also been the inches of snow that had been falling for hours that morning). We all enjoyed our food tremendously. I had a side order of steak, which was the perfect amount of food and I enjoyed the slight hint of fennel. Highly recommend. Enjoyed tremendously.
