The food was good. This place is small and cozy with outdoor seating available. I had the catfish with salad and cornbread. My daughter had collard greens. Not a fan of fresh garlic in collard greens, but all else was good.

Best meal I’ve ever eaten in NY. Been staying in Brooklyn for a week now travelling all the boroughs. Wanted to support black owned business and it so happened to be Juneteenth when we came in. The signature chicken burger was AMAZING and I subbed to sweet potato fries which were so crispy and nice. Even the house lemonades and iced tea hit so hard. Finished with the double chocolate cake and literally ascended. I went home and took a 1 hour nap before hitting the clubs after.

I chose to celebrate my birthday at Peaches on Tompkins on Juneteenth, expecting a welcoming atmosphere and authentic Southern food. Instead, I was met with subpar, mid-tier dishes and microaggressions from the manager, who single-handedly ruined my entire day. While the front servers (a beautiful Black woman and a kind Hispanic man) were incredibly sweet and doing their best during a heavy rush, the management style here is an absolute disaster. The food completely missed the mark. My partner’s burger was ordered medium-well but arrived completely charred, dry, and over-well done. Meanwhile, my hot chicken was completely inedible; beyond being overwhelmingly spicy with zero balance, the texture of the meat was entirely off. Because it was busy, we were not checked on for a while, which we understood. However, when we finally flagged down a server near the bar, she called over the manager, and the interaction immediately went downhill. The manager’s service was nothing short of hostile. Before we could even explain the issues, she weaponized the assumption that we were just trying to get out of paying. We had absolutely no problem paying; we simply wanted a refund for inedible food, especially since the kitchen was closing. When I explained that the texture was off, she tried to gaslight me, insisting I got "what I asked for" and bizarrely claiming she personally pays for bad food everywhere she goes. She then openly argued with my partner about the burger, snapping, "No, you didn't," when my partner corrected her about ordering it medium-well.To make matters worse, she walked over to the bar—fully within our eyesight and earshot—and started talking trash to the other servers, calling us rude. We were not rude; we only matched her aggressive energy after she treated us with suspicion. When management goes out of their way to treat Black customers with hostile, criminalizing energy on a national holiday like Juneteenth, it speaks volumes. Save your money. The food is mid, the authenticity isn't there, and the management is deeply microaggressive.

As soon as my friend and I walked in, 2 people greeted us and made us feel so welcome. May, though, went above and beyond! She checked in, she made sure we received everything we wanted. She is the absolute hostess! This is my first time at Peaches but definitely not my last! The food was scrumptious but this amazing hostess is expecting us back! Thank you May! Your attitude and kindness are very appreciated

Went with my sister and was exactly what I needed for a soul food fix. It does the job that it needs to do let me tell you. I got the mikes hot honey fried chicken sandwich the chicken was perfectly fried the bun was perfect the slaw on it was the right balance. We also ordered a side of greens, Mac and cheese, and grits. All side were exactly how they should be if you ask me, proper comfort in each bite
