This was legitimately one of the best meals I've ever had. The crab dip beignets were very good. The chef's take on honey walnut shrimp was probably the best shrimp I've ever had. The toasted pound cake with bananas foster is probably the best dessert I've ever had in my life.

I have been coming to Poor Calvin’s for over 10 years, and until now, I have never had a bad meal. That is what made this experience so disappointing. I ordered the duck and lobster entrée, and both were severely overcooked. The lobster was tough and rubbery, and the duck was dry and lacked the quality I have come to expect from this restaurant over the years. What was even more frustrating was how the situation was handled. I brought my concerns to Jane, the manager, and instead of attempting to make things right, she refused to address the issue or offer any reasonable resolution. I understand that mistakes happen, but how a restaurant responds to those mistakes is what truly matters. As a loyal customer of more than a decade, I expected better. The attached photo speaks for itself. For the price charged, the quality of the food and the lack of customer service were both unacceptable. It’s unfortunate because I have recommended Poor Calvin’s to many friends and clients over the years. However, based on this experience, I left feeling that my concerns were dismissed rather than valued. I hope management takes customer feedback more seriously in the future.

Let me tell you about this experience! If you go to Atlanta’s AmericasMart, take the short Uber ride to this wonderful restaurant! Greeted by the BEST host, we had Linda as our server. She is knowledgeable and can describe the dishes perfectly. I had the Pad Thai which is flavorful and had a great umami taste. My friend had the Lobster Fried Rice, and what just happened to my taste buds?! It is a flavor that just keeps adding to itself! We also had the Mussels for the appetizer and it tasted so much like Tom soup, I can’t even! Oh and the Pho cocktail is chef’s kiss! Such a great experience and awesome food! Well done, chef and Linda! Thank you!

I recently had dinner at Poor Calvin’s in Atlanta, and it turned out to be one of the most surprising and memorable dining experiences of my trip. From the outside, it doesn’t immediately reveal how creative and refined the food inside really is, but once you step in, the atmosphere quickly sets a warm and inviting tone. What impressed me most was the fusion of flavors on the menu. The dishes blend different culinary influences in a way that feels bold but still well-balanced. Every plate we tried had a distinct personality, and the presentation was just as thoughtful as the taste. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself curious about every dish coming out of the kitchen. The service added to the experience in a meaningful way. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Their recommendations helped guide us toward some of the most interesting dishes of the night, and their energy made the meal feel even more enjoyable. For first-time visitors, I recommend stepping outside your comfort zone and trying some of the signature fusion dishes. This is not a place for predictable ordering—the creativity is part of the experience. Making a reservation is also a good idea, as the restaurant tends to be popular in the evenings. Overall, Poor Calvin’s delivers inventive food, great service, and a dining experience that feels both playful and refined. It’s a place that stands out in Atlanta’s restaurant scene and leaves a lasting impression.
