before heading back home, we decided to stop by Shane’s for breakfast. I’m glad we did. I ordered the catfish and grits, and man, that catfish was good. Crispy on the outside, seasoned right, and paired perfectly with the grits. I also got the breakfast special with two pancakes, two eggs, and three sausages. No complaints at all. Everything came out hot, fresh, and tasted like somebody actually cared about what they were serving. What I appreciated most wasn’t just the food. It was the feeling. When you’re traveling and away from home, every restaurant is just another restaurant until you find one that makes you feel comfortable. Shane’s had that feeling. Good food, good people, and the kind of spot where you can sit down, relax, and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. Appreciate y’all.

Small but mighty. Our group went here for lunch on a week day and the experience did not disappoint. The service was great and the food was awesome. The place was small, but to me that was a bonus because the servers were very attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and cinnamon waffles and my son had the Italian sandwich with friends. Others in our group had the Shrimp and grits, salmon and grits and chicken strips with waffles. The drinks (alcohol and non were very tasty. I had the Passion fruit mimosa and someone had the pineapple mimosa. My little cousin had the homemade strawberry lemonade. Definitely check out this Gem in Brooklyn.

Just a walk away from the Brooklyn museum and upon arrival we’re able to get a seat downstairs which resembled like an underground speakeasy! The items on the menu were fairly affordable. I got the big breakfast; very filling and eggs with cheese scrambled. Also tried the chicken fingers which was very tasty and seasoned. There is a service charge towards the bill so for two people we payed a lil less than $90. Great service, and music playing in the background. They did have a wide range of options but I’m basic so stick to what I like and it did not disappoint.

I’ve done delivery meals and they were good, finally did dine in and it was okay. My fish was bigger in delivery it felt more like nuggets this time vs. the filet but taste was good. The server fixed it though and brought another piece of fish. Small having to go to basement but it’s NYC and rent is high so I get it! Will be back to support!

Overall the place wasn’t bad, I came for girls brunch and the food was edible. The flavors are there for sure, but my food was overcooked. The chicken was very dry but the cinnamon waffle was delicious enough to get over the dryness. Loved my waiter, he was a joy. My friend very much enjoyed her grits. I tried to be generous with the atmosphere but the downstairs had no service, hated that.
