I enjoyed myself in this restaurant. The live performance was really chill and the food was good. It was difficult to get in our reservation on time, we were held about 20 minutes passed while tables were open and then didn't get drinks or orders for about an hour.

It was a Thursday night. I was craving Southern food and this was the only place near my downtown hotel still open around 9pm. I sat at the bar at 9:04 and ordered the shrimp gumbo- the hostess’s recommendation. Then I waited. And waited. The place closes at 10pm… and my food didn’t arrive until 9:52pm. There were only four of us at a bar that seats ten, and even another customer waiting on a takeout order was clearly frustrated with the delay. While waiting, I tried to stay entertained. The live band was… breathing. Not bad, but not something that held my attention. Thank goodness for TikTok, because that carried me through the long stretch. When the gumbo finally arrived, it was less than lukewarm and tasted like reheated leftovers. Trader Joe's has way better food.... frozen. To be fair, the bartender was friendly and even apologized for the delay, but that doesn’t make up for the overall experience. Honestly, I’d skip it. You’re better off staying in with a bag of Doritos and orange soda, than spending your time and money here.

MY ORDER: Short rib and mashed potatoes, jambalaya, and a cheeseburger and fries and cornbread I was visiting Atlanta when I came to this spot in March. I wanted to experience a juke joint after watching Sinners lol… I was very disappointed though. There was a live band that was awesome- very engaging and fun. I was also celebrating a friend’s birthday that night and the singer sang happy birthday to her. The ambiance was nice and we were still able to hear each other talk. The inside decor was beautiful and afro centric and the bathrooms were clean with lots of stalls. HOWEVER! I personally very much believe no matter how pretty a restaurant is, or how much entertainment they offer, the food NEEDS to be good. They took OVER AN HOUR to bring out our entrees. We ordered cornbread as an appetizer and luckily that didn’t take too long. But the main entrees? Over an hour- mind you it was only three entrees. I swear at one point I saw one of the chefs outside jamming to the band not for a few minutes- but for like 10-15 minutes!…sir please hurry and make our meals. Then the food came out INCREDIBLY salty, bland and not even that hot. We ordered short rib, jambalaya and a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger was the most decent, but that’s a basic meal. It was a waste of money and time. At that point, we couldn’t even order more dishes because we already spent a lot, and we were behind our plans for the night because of the long wait time. On a good note, the service was great, the host and out waitress were incredibly kind and apologized for the long wait. The place has potential, but sadly misses the mark when it comes to food and cook time. I’d recommend this place if you’re looking to just grab some drinks and listen to live music.

Their food is GOOD!!! We enjoyed our experience at this restaurant. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing! We wanted to try everything but we couldn’t! With the live band, the food, and the service, a time was had! We will definitely be back.

1st off, The kitchen is soooo slow .. BUT THAT FOOD MADE UP FOR IT. It came out piping hot too, here’s the breakdown 👇🏾 I was dang near about to fall asleep waiting on the food. Mainly because I waited so long to eat at the first spot and end up leaving. Came here and waited some more. But The food was cooked so well!! First. My chicken was crispy, juicy and seasoned!! Like seasoned like I was at somebody’s grandmas house. Like I was visiting my great aunts and meemaw them. It brought me back to life. Like I literally felt so good eating it and after. Next, the Mac n cheese. It didn’t look promising at first but the seasoning in it is so good. Again, I felt like I was visiting and eating with family. Out somebody’s personal kitchen. Very good, also very unique. The greens weren’t my favorite but it’s a personal preference. Make no mistake I still ate the greens down to the juice and drank some of the juice 😅 I also ordered dirty rice. This was okay. Could use a little more flavor. Mixed with the Mac n cheese and chicken, all was fine lol. The cornbread … the freaking cornbread!! Wow. It was so good. Not too sweet at all. The consistency is real nice. I ate all of my portion Same day. I couldn’t save it. Again. All my food coming out fresh just brought it all together. Also. I’m a young head saying this. So my tastebuds ain’t shot 😂 The food tasted like home. Like family. I’ll definitely come back. ❤️🙏🏾
