A very so so outpost of the NYC original that definitely tries to cash in on the fame of the original. Other than pouring creditable pints of Guinness (though after the first pour, they were poured rather hastily because they got busy I guess), this is a very loose facsimile of the original. The menu was also small and quite uninteresting The corned beef sandwich looked delicious but was fairly flavorless if it was not for a slaw that was a bit too sweet for my taste. Chips were flabby and bland and a complaint to the bartender resulted is being informed that chips were supposed to be soggy!!! Who knew?! Scotch egg was quite decent and so was the service actually. Very disappointing.

Best Cocktails and Comfort Food in a while I went here for drinks and food after my flight in for work. It was late, maybe 10pm+ Their kitchen was still open when I arrived, which was later than most restaurants in a few block radius, and half the reason I dropped in The other half of the reason was the cocktails. I sat at the bar and went through a few mixed drinks. What a smart person I am! It was well worth it. Some v unique recipes that I’ll try to recreate at home but will prob fail. I can’t quite recollect much of the ambiance or decor. But that’s fine I’ll be back for the drinks and the amazing fish n chips. The cod fillet was unusually thick, flaky, juicy, and fresh. Above what I expected for sure.

The Dead Rabbit Austin absolutely lived up to expectations. It’s my favorite pub in NYC, and the Austin location did not disappoint. The Guinness was spot on, and the bartenders working Monday (5/30), both during the day and evening—we actually left and came back—were excellent. Friendly, attentive, and really added to the experience. The hostess was also incredibly welcoming. The food was outstanding. The ham and cheese toastie is always a go-to for me, and it didn’t miss here. We also started with the oysters, which were fresh and wonderful. Hands down, a standout on Dirty 6th Street. Highly recommend.

The Dead Rabbit is notoriously and consistently a step above anything else on 6th street (and most spots in Austin overall). The food, service, and vibes all provide a quality and charm that blends Irish delicacies with new American spins. Ham sliders, fish and chips, and the sausage rolls are some of our favorites. Don't even get me started on the cocktails as the place continues to craft imaginative and creative libations that are well worth the dollars. This place has easily become one of our local favorites - especially during the holiday season for "Jingle Jangle." Definitely worth a hop over to this fantastic establishment!
