We loved our dinner date at this place. Once we got here there were no tables for us except seating at the bar. Nick made the whole experience of seating at the beautiful bar one of a kind. He was so pleasant and knowledgeable, always attentive to our needs and even gave us a free treat - an appetiser that we both enjoyed. The oysters were local and fresh. The grilled whole fish was amazingly cooked and served with olive oil. We had the smashed roast potatoes that were the most delicious!! Hailey was also serving beside Nick and they were both the friendliest ever!! We can’t thank both enough for making our dinner date this memorable.

Dining at The Grey is definitely an experience. First, the atmosphere is beautiful. The restaurant is set in a restored former bus terminal, and they’ve kept some of those original touches while elevating everything to feel upscale and intentional. The decor alone is worth appreciating, and I absolutely loved the downstairs private room—if I lived in Savannah, I’d be booking that space in a heartbeat. The menu is thoughtful and creative, exactly what you’d expect from a chef known for reimagining Southern cuisine. It’s important to go in knowing this is elevated, traditional Southern food with a twist. Overall, the food was good and flavorful. The cornbread had a surprising kick. Personally, I would’ve loved some honey to balance it out. The fried squash was delicious, though I think it would’ve been even better paired with some kind of dipping sauce. The drinks were also very well done. That said, the pacing of the meal was a major downside. It took way too long for the food to come out...long enough that even my partner, who rarely comments on timing, noticed. While drinks arrived quickly, the overall wait for food really dragged down the experience. Service was just okay. Our server wasn’t particularly attentive, especially compared to how she interacted with other tables nearby. Another thing to be aware of: seating is tight. Tables are packed so closely together that it can feel like you’re sharing your dinner with strangers, which takes away from the intimacy of the experience. On a positive note, I loved the thoughtful touch at the end of the meal...a "thrill". It added a fun, memorable element. And since it was my birthday, I was treated to a whipped soufflé-style dessert, which was a really nice surprise. Pricing felt fair for the quality and overall experience. All in all, The Grey truly shines in creativity, ambiance, and flavor, with just a bit of room to refine the pacing and maybe a little more space between tables.

We’ve been meaning to eat at The Grey for wayyyyy too long and my mom’s birthday weekend was the perfect reason! We had a fantastic meal, tucked in a meaningful spot, right here at home. Everything was straight out of our favorite Chef’s Table episode. And I think mom would have loved to have a thrill (even at brunch in the winter🤣) There just ain’t nothing like true southern fare and live music to boot!

We were visiting Savannah and somebody recommended this restaurant which is an old greyhound bus depot that used to be segregated and they turned it into a nice restaurant that was featured on a Netflix series called the captain’s table. It was our anniversary. My husband had the fish curry dish and I had the roasted chicken dinner that came with a mole sauce that I think was a zucchini mole or something like that but everything was delicious. We had the cornbread appetizer before our meal and we had the lemon olive oil cake afterwards and everything was great! We sat at the main bar and our bartender and server was Shelby and she was awesome!

We spent an evening at The Grey in Savannah, a restaurant uniquely housed in a former Greyhound bus station. They’ve done a great job preserving Our evening at The Grey in Savannah was an interesting experience. The restaurant is housed in a former Greyhound bus station, and they’ve done a thoughtful job maintaining that ambiance. I had the lamb, which was well-balanced and nicely cooked—the flavors were spot-on with a good harmony between protein and sides. The appetizers, however, left me wanting more. We tried a trout roe pancake, but it fell short on both presentation and flavor—at the price point, I expected something more delicate. We also had a ceviche-style fish dish; while the presentation was nice, the flavor leaned too creamy and lacked the bright citrus punch I was hoping for. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish the appetizers. The bartenders were fine, but my Old Fashioned was just standard—no special flair. Overall, The Grey is worth visiting for the unique setting and decent mains, but the experience could use a bit more finesse.
