Seen several shows at all 3 main venues. Great friendly staff, quick entry, and always a cool selection of artists to go see - especially in the smaller scenes. You'll find EDM, hyperpop, deathcore, indie, shoegaze, slam, and damn near anything else you could think of. Very clean bathrooms as well. Keep an eye on their insta for new shows being announced all the time. For those who haven't been: there's 4 different venues, but they're all in the same location, within about 50 feet of each other. These are all within this area referred to as "The Underground". So if/when you see signs for the Underground, that *is* the Masquerade. They're essentially the same location, geographically speaking. For anyone curious, the venue size capacities are roughly: The Alter: 50-100 Purgatory: 100-150 Hell: 250 Heaven: 400 - 500 So if a more popular artist is doing a show at the masq, you can assume it'll probably be at Heaven, otherwise they'd move the show to the Eastern or the Roxy, lol. Also, there's 2 ways to get in. You can park in the garage on MLK, but it's paid parking so be aware of that before going in. From the garage, there's a "gangway" or walking bridge on the 3rd level of the garage that leads directly to the stairs or elevator that you'll take down to the venue. The other option is to park on the other side of the underground on the street. That's also paid, but it's generally cheaper since it's by the hour. From the street, you'll see an archway with a sign that says "Underground". Just go in and walk down the stairs ahead of you. Hope this helps someone! Happy concert-going!

I went to the masquerade at the original location years ago. It was fun then and still is in the new building. (Sturdier too!) While modern and updated, the venue held on to it’s personality including hades, heaven, and hell. There’s no seating so seeing a concert is hours of standing on concrete, but I guess if the music is good enough it doesn’t matter. I would still be glad to see a band perform there anytime!

I go to a lot of concerts here and have been at all of the different venues. Heaven is great but the rest are mediocre at best. I am currently attending a concert at the "Hell" venue and it will probably be the last concert I attend here unless it is in the "Heaven" venue. The disabled seating in the "Hell" venue is absolutely atrocious. You are at the side of the stage and stage equipment is blocking your view. When you try to move around you end up with the staff and/or photographers blocking your view. So bottom line: If the venue is "Heaven" consider going but any of the other venues, make sure you don't set your expectations high.

I appreciate the space and the variety of shows, but the Altar posted only the "doors opening" time which is an hour and a half before the show. The bartender says they have a new policy prohibiting them from posting the time the band actually starts. Not interested in standing around in front of an empty stage just so that they boost food and booze sales. They do have this funky graffiti in the bathroom though!

My first time visiting Atlanta was unforgettable thanks to the Whitechapel concert at The Masquerade! We got to see Whitechapel perform and was able to experience the VIP package with a meet and greet. The venue was organized, and being able to be the first group inside meant we got an amazing view of the stage upstairs. The venue itself was awesome—great sound, energy, and setup. Whitechapel put on an incredible show, and which made my experience with The Masquerade it even better. Definitely a place I’d come back to for another concert, especially if Phil is performing ! Heavy metal hits perfect underground 🤘🏼🖤
